30 Second Showdown
An arcade shooting game with retro roots
What it is
A small arcade shooting game built from scratch — inspired by classic quick-fire shooters.
Why it is
Good question. It started as something to tinker with after picking up a game programming language (AGK).
I kept coming back to it over time, adding bits here and there for fun and eventually it turned into a complete game loop.
What makes it interesting
- Built from scratch as a personal challenge
- Focuses on simple, responsive gameplay rather than complexity
- Designed around quick sessions and score chasing
- Mix of hand-made and AI-assisted assets
- A complete, playable project rather than a concept
How I did it
- Built using AGK
- Graphics created by hand and with tools such as ChatGPT and Leonardo
- Designed around quick sessions and score chasing
- Mix of hand-made and AI-assisted assets
- Music and sound sourced from licensed asset packs where appropriate (Humble / Fanatical)
